Gear head SSG10
The SSG10 is a compact, high-precision spur gear head from Orbray, developed to deliver reliable performance in applications where low noise, high precision and small form factor are essential. It is designed to be combined with Orbray's coreless and brushless micromotors in the CMS10 and BMS10 series.
With a robust metal gear housing and steel gears, the SSG10 can handle a continuous load of up to 12 mNm and an intermittent torque of up to 30 mNm. Equipped with sintered sleeve bearings, the gear can withstand radial loads of up to 3 N and axial loads of up to 1 N. Careful manufacturing keeps shaft play to a minimum – ≤0.03 mm radially and ≤0.2 mm axially – contributing to stable and precise operation.
The SSG10 is available with several reduction ratios, from 15:1 to a full 262:1, divided into 3 to 6 gear stages. Efficiency varies between 73% and 53% depending on configuration, and the gear length is between 14 and 20 mm. The direction of rotation of the gear is affected by the number of stages and may differ from that of the motor depending on the setup.
The recommended maximum input speed is 10,000 rpm, and the gear is designed for operation within a temperature range of -10 °C to +60 °C. With a weight between 5.4 and 7.9 grams, the SSG10 is easy to integrate into tight spaces.
Thanks to its compact design, low noise level and high precision, the SSG10 is perfectly suited for applications in medical technology, automation and precision mechanical systems where smooth and precise movement is crucial.
