Gear head SSG12
The SSG12 is a compact and precise spur gear head from Orbray, specifically designed for applications requiring low noise, high precision and reliable power transmission in confined spaces. It is compatible with both coreless and brushless motors in the CMS12 and BMS12 series.
The gear housing is made of metal, with steel gears for increased wear resistance and durability. The output shaft is fitted with sintered sleeve bearings and can withstand radial loads up to 3 N and axial loads up to 1 N. The shaft play is kept at a very low level (≤0.03 mm radially and ≤0.2 mm axially), ensuring stable and precise operation.
The SSG12 offers a wide range of reduction ratios: from 15.78:1 to 281.58:1, with 3 to 5 gear stages depending on the model. Efficiency ranges from 73% at three stages to 59% at five stages. The direction of rotation of the gear can be affected by the gear set (some models invert the direction).
The gear can withstand a continuous torque of up to 15 mNm (12 mNm at lower reductions) and an intermittent torque of up to 30 mNm. The total gear length varies between 14 mm and 18 mm, and the weight is between 8.3 and 10.2 grams.
The SSG12 is designed for a maximum input speed of 10,000 rpm and an operating temperature range between -10°C and +60°C. This makes the gear ideal for use in medical technology, automation, robotics and other precision mechanical systems where precision, compactness and quiet operation are essential.
With its balanced combination of performance, size and accuracy, the SSG12 is a reliable choice for demanding applications in miniaturized drive systems.
